All children are welcome.
Children are always welcome to remain in the service with their families
Collect of the Day
Almighty God,
you have taught us through your Son
that love fulfils the law.
May we love you with all our heart,
all our soul, all our mind, and all our strength,
and may we love our neighbour as ourselves;
through Jesus Christ our Lord,
who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and for ever.
Today's Scripture passages:
2 Kings 2: 1-2, 6-14 (page 406, GNB)
Psalm 77: 1-2, 11-20 (page 804, BAS)
Gal 5: 1, 13-25 (page 255 GNB)
Luke 9: 51-62 (page 95, GNB)
Prayer of the Gifts
God of wisdom,
receive all we offer you this day.
Enrich our lives with the gifts of your Spirit,
that we may follow the way of our Lord Jesus Christ,
and serve one another in freedom.
We ask this in his name.
Communion
All are all welcome to receive the bread and wine.
If you do not wish to drink from the common cup, please just receive the bread
and refrain, for hygienic reasons, from dipping the bread in the wine.
Please be assured that receiving the bread alone is still a complete communion.
Prayer after communion
God of power,
we are nourished by the riches of your grace.
Raise us to new life in your Son Jesus Christ
and fit us for his eternal kingdom,
that all the world may call him Lord.
We ask this in his name.
We offer a ministry of prayer at this Service. If you wish prayer come
to the front of the Church (by the Altar rail) at the end of the Service
and members of our Prayer Team will pray with you.
Ask and you shall receive (Matthew 7:7)
We thank the youth today for
leading us in praise music!

THE KNIT AND NATTER GROUP have undertaken a project this summer to renovate the main floor of the Parish House. Through the generosity of St Paul's members, most of the money has already been donated to cover the cost of new carpeting and paint. With only $600 left to raise, the group will be selling home baked pies etc. during the summer months. The baking will be available to be purchased between the 8am and 10am services. If anyone is willing to contribute with baking pies/tarts/cookies please put your name on the sign up sheet at the back of the Church. It would also be a great help if people would like to volunteer with the painting and removing the old carpeting etc. (The rooms to be painted are the library, photocopier room, entranceways and bathroom.) We plan to have this project finished by the end of August or earlier. Any questions or offers to help, please contact Wendy Shaw - Tel: 256-3433. Also, if you received a paint brush with your Gazette this week and don’t need it, drop it off at the Parish House!
HARVEST SUPPER The Harvest Supper will be Thursday September 30th. Once again we will be looking for people to donate some of the items we use for the supper. Details, shopping lists and donation envelopes will start appearing next week. Erin McCrae and Mike Mavis will be coordinating this year’s supper again and will be spending the next couple of weeks putting together their team leaders.
RECTORY SHUTTERS There are still some Rectory Shutters that have not been returned. Now that the inside of the Rectory looks so inspiring, we would like to get this one major bit of outside work done. If you have a shutter you have not completed yet please: (1) let Mike Mavis know and (2) try to have it stripped and back to the church by the end of July.
CONTRACT FOR CLEANING SERVICES Debbie Piche has been cleaning our church for the past few years. She has informed us that she will be “retiring” from the cleaning business as of July 31st. If you know someone who may be interested in submitting a proposal to clean the church, hall and Parish House they can contact Mike or Gary.
SUMMER SIGN UP SHEETS are now at the back of the church for the various Sunday ministries. Please sign up where you can. Summer is a great time for new volunteers to contribute! Please consider.
SUMMER BULLETIN – As we move to our summer services, the summer bulletin will look a lot different. You will find one bulletin for the entire summer. A separate announcement sheet will be available at the back of the church for you to pick up.
THE JUNE NEWSLETTER is available at the back of the church. Please pick yours up!
VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL: Monday, Aug 23 - Thursday, Aug 26, 2010 from 9 am to noon at St. Paul's Anglican Church, The program is called EGYPT - The Joseph Story. If you can help please contact Christy Bindhardt or Pat Martin.
THE GARDEN OF BITTER HERBS has been planted. Take the path beside the Rectory down the stairs and have a look. The garden by back door to the hall that contains grapes has been edged with rock. Things are really coming together. Thanks to people who sent plants, herbs and mulch. We sure could use more mulch to keep the weeds down. Further donations are very mulch appreciated!
Did you know you can get the bulletin emailed to you each week? Go to St Paul’s website www.stpaulsalmonte.ca. On the left hand bar under “Navigate” choose “Email Lists” and fill out your email address and click the appropriate box(es). Also check out the calendar of events.
